May 6, at 7 pm in «Khudozhestvenny Cinema» (Blue Hall) Preview – screening and discussion of new documentary films only for professional members of the club.
«Preview» is a round table for documentary makers to receive professional feedback on their new films before they are completed or share their recently completed works with their colleagues.
Purpose of the round table to promote new documentary films and discuss them with professionals, engaging press and festival sponsors, stimulating interest to Russian documentary films, uniting documentary film professionals, raising audience and cultivating grounds for documentary film distribution in Russian cinemas.
Our first Preview is film called«A Ringing Silence» (directed by Dennis Masterov). Discussion will be mediated by film director Jemma Firsova, prize winner of Lenin's Award of the USSR. This screening will be dedicated to the V-Day. Free Admission. Register in advance.
Requests from directors for screening can be submitted to Preview. Both final technical copies and recently completed films will be accepted. A list of film for autumn 2010 is being generated.

8th of December - 100th anniversary of the legendary cameraman Vladislav Mikosha.
I have felt the world as it is, perceiving it emotionally not rationally. It was the blood of sailors and discoverers not historians and researchers that flew in my veins. And the chronicle that I have been diligently writing all my life, has been more of a "logbook" than a "Primary Chronicle"…
«Character makes destiny. If the legendary cameraman Vladislav Mikosha, at the very beginning of his life path, chose a different profession, then, no doubt, he could be a great pilot, surgeon, or a sailor. Any area, he dove into with all his passion and faith in what he was doing, he would succeed».

On the last Saturday of November, our historical memory was awaken with a new event – after a five year custody and renovation, the main monument of the Soviet period Worker and Farmer has returned!
It is still too far to the official opening, the scaffolding where it was reborn, is still there and it is still far to be back on tits foundation, but there was already a impatient crowd watching all night how this creation of Soviet genius is getting ready to take off.

From November 5 to November 15 in the Photo Center on Gogolevsky boulevard, there was an exhibition of outstanding photo artists, cameraman, journalist and film director, four time winner of the State Award, People’s Artist of the USSR Vladislav Mikosha.
Two exhibits have been presented: «Arctic», dedicated to 75 years since the rescue mission for Chelyuskin expedidition and «Heroic Sevastopol» - dedicated to the 65th anniversary of saving the city.
Many members of the Moscow Documentary Club visited the exhibition and saw works of the master photographer. “Thank you very much for this exhibition! For the opportunity to touch the history of our country and see faces of our countrymen which are few decades away from us though being so vivid and dear! Thank you for the opportunity to see moments and benchmarks of our history which have been preserved for us through such honest and poetic art of Vladislav Mikosha!" (Maria Chesnokova)

OCTOBER 7 – OPENING THIRD SEASON OF MOSCOW DOCUMENTARY FILM CLUB WINDOW TO RUSSIA: LINKING TIME
On the 7th of October we open the Third Season of Moscow Documentary Film Club Window to Russia: Linking Times in the film theater Khudozhestvenny.
Past seasons proved that documentary film is interesting for people of different age and social status.
In this season we managed to change the time of film showing for 7 pm. It will take place in the Green Hall of Khudozhestvenny film theatre and only for films on celluloid will be shown in Maly Hall and time will be announced additionally.
In this season we will focus particularly on contemporary documentary works. We expect a lot of film premiers of established and young authors. We are planning meetings not only with Moscow directors but also with documentary filmmakers from other Russian cities.
In club meetings, there will be an opportunity to see native documentary films, and have discussions with authors about their films, different artistic, historical and social issues led by presidents of the club: film critic Irina Graschenkova and documentary film director Jemma Firsova-Mikosha.
We will also continue showing archival documentary films, which are not only masterpieces of world film art but also remind us about the recent history of Russia and helping us to study out the issues of modern life.
So every Wednesday starting on October 7, Window to Russia in the Khodozhestvenny cinema is open to everybody. In section Club you may find repertoire for October and November 2009.
ДЕНЬ КИНО. ЮБИЛЕЙ.
Сегодня 90 лет с того дня, когда 27 августа 1919 года В. Лениным был подписан декрет о национализации кинематографа (“О переходе фотографической и кинематографической торговли и промышленности в ведение Народного комиссариата по просвещению”). С тех пор он отмечался как День отечественного кинематографа.
В 1980 году был установлен День кино. Традиционно он продолжал отмечаться 27 августа.
В годы перестройки профессиональный праздник кинематографистов стал называться День кино России. Но сам день празднования не изменил своё число.
Однако, несмотря на жёсткие рамки, сковывающие "свободу творчества", за это время отечественное кино создало незабываемые шедевры, вошедшие в золотой фонд мирового кинематографа.

Московский клуб документального кино "Окно в Россию. Связь времён" начал регулярные кинопоказы документальных фильмов и кинохроники в кинотеатре "Художественный" 7 ноября 2007 года.
